About the Department
Food Science at the University of Arkansas
Food Science is a department in the Dale Bumpers College of Agricultural, Food and Life Sciences and Division of Agriculture at the University of Arkansas that serves as a primary source of higher education,
fundamental and applied research and public service. The Department of Food Science
fosters programs for achieving regional, national and international excellence that
contribute to the advancement of knowledge and technologies, professional development
and economic success of individuals and food and food related enterprises. Graduates
from the food science program at the University of Arkansas go on to pursue dynamic
careers in a variety of fields, or continue advancing their education through graduate
school and research.

Department Mission:
- Lead scientific discovery and innovations for enhancing food quality, safety, security, sustainability, and accessibility.
- Understand the relationships among food, health, and consumer behavior to enhance human health and well-being
- Provide (IFT and RCA) approved curriculum, distance learning, and extension materials to train workforce for supporting food industry
- Build a community of students, staff and faculty that reflects the land grant mission of serving our pluralistic society by embracing diversity, equity and inclusivity.
